Tungsten Weighted Tape for Pickleball Paddles
I prefer tungsten weight tape for my pickleball paddles, especially for my frameless paddles. It’s not as dense as lead which means I can spread a little extra weight over a larger span of the paddle. Plus it’s safer to handle. This tungsten weight tape is exactly as described. Each inch weighs one gram. I made some five inch lengths which each weigh five grams. The tape makes it easy to install. I always wrap the edge of my frameless paddles in simple electrical tape (second pic), which ensures the weight tape stays put and also provides a bit of edge protection for my paddle. No issues with this tungsten tape. Recommended if you want to add a little mass to your paddle or racket.
I can't comment on the stickiness as I haven't yet put it on a paddle but I weighed it after seeing that other review. 35g including bag and adhesive. That seems about right, so at least you're getting what you pay for.
You get 30 inches of weighted tape or 30 grams of tape. Very easy to work with and quickly works to help your game. Especially for people with light weight paddles that are looking for additional power. I added it to my paddle and really saw a difference in my game. Much more power on my serve and volleys.I would just recommend that 3M provide 1 inch hash marks on the tape to easily identify how much weight is going onto your paddle. They can either put on the black tape or use a transparent film with hash marks.Otherwise it is good tape and would recommend for anyone wanting a bit more power/weight in their paddle.
I bought this tape to use on my golf putters. It should work well for that purpose.I don't intend on using it on any rackets or paddles. In fact, anyone wanting to change the weight balance of a racket should consult a professional at their local tennis specialist shops and/or teaching professionals. Sure, you can use the tape to add weight, but it can drastically affect the balance of the racket/paddle and even cause injury from repeated swings.4 stars
As a new pickleball player, I was looking for some lead tape for my paddle. My Pro Instructor had added some extra weight to the top corners of one of my lighter paddles to provide extra power. Those were 3gram pickleball lead tape strips with rounded corners. Unfortunately, one of them fell off because it was not sticky enough. This is a 30 inch roll of lead tape that weighs 1 gram per inch. You would be able to use it for a pickleball paddle by cutting it into strips. The tape is 3M 9448A Double Coated Tissue Tape.
I cut an 8 inch strip to measure the weight. It came to 0.3 oz, or 6g. So it is comparable to other tungsten tape. However the tape is thick with a rubbery surface. The type of tungsten tape that I am used to are very thin. The benefit of this rubber surface is that it actually provide a little bit of protection as well.I applied them to the 3 and 9 o’clock to improve stability and works as expected.
I had difficulty taking off the part where it protects the sticky parts. Ended up taking off the whole sticky parts by accident but I was still able to put it back and used it on my paddle. It’s also a bit thick!
To be honest, I didn't read the product description super carefully when I ordered this item. Tungsten tape typically comes in a 60 inch roll, so when I saw this product I was excited because it was a great price.Unfortunately, you get only 30 inches of tape, not 60 inches, making this product more expensive than proven name-brand tungsten tape. Why would you buy this product at a higher cost when you can have a highly reviewed name brand product for less? Also, the tape is slightly heavier than 1 gram per inch as advertised. The roll (30 inches total) weighs in at 33.9 grams, not 30 grams as expected. I've ordered the name-brand tungsten tape, and it is dead-on accurate at 1 gram per inch. This weight discrepancy is one more reason I can't recommend this tungsten tape.
I always hated those lead tapes, and this is a completely different material. It's non-sticky, and felt more like rubbery. It's flexible and doesn't retain the shape as lead tape does. The quantity is a lot lesser than those lead tapes in a per-roll basis. Also, I wish the tape is a bit more stronger. Even though I was covering the edges with an edge guard, I wish these tapes were super thin and the adhesive is a bit stronger.
Picked this up to use on my driver and putter heads. tape is as expected and at a reasonable cost. For those that are looking at this for adding weight to your golf club head(s), this does have a rubberized coating on the non-sticky side of the tape, I'm using this on the top and edge of my driver and putter - not sure if it would be advised for the sole of a club head since it's rubberized and a bit tacky...Overall, I would recommend.
